Barium Fluoride is used for lenses, particulary when transmission into the ultraviolet is desired. The transmission range of BaF2 is from 0.2 to 11mkm. Transmission in the VUV is degraded by prolonged exposure to moist atmospher, but it is not significantly degraded by exposure to high energy radiation.
