MAGNESIUM FLUORIDE (MgF2) OPTICS

MgF2 transmission

Magnesium Fluoride is used for optical elements in the infrared where extreme ruggerness and durability is required. The single crystal exhibits slight birefringence through its useful transmission range and its birefringence in the infrared could be useful.

Magnesium Fluoride is similar to Calcium Fluoride in its resistance to water. The material is sensitive to thermal shock, but does not cleave. Irradiation does not lead to color centers.

Alkor Technologies manufactures MgF2 optical elements: MgF2 lenses, MgF2 windows, MgF2 wedges according to customer's specifications.

The largest dimensions of MgF2 optics: Dia50 mm x 20 mm. Please contact us for more information.
